In the framework of Qatar’s first solar tender, 3E provided advice and support to French oil and gas major Total who has won a 40% stake in the project together with Japanese Marubeni. With two million bifacial solar modules, the 800 MW Al-Kharsaah solar plant aims to reduce the CO2 emission of the country by 26 million tons over the lifespan of the project.

As independent expert, 3E worked for Total Solar on the 800 MW PV project’s bid submission by conducting independent long-term yield assessments on the various designs proposed for the bid.

Mr Sébastien Fofol, Senior Project Manager at Total Solar in Paris, testifies:

“We are very happy with our collaboration with 3E. We have very much appreciated their accuracy, expertise, flexibility and availability for the yield assessments.”

Mr Mathieu Aspeele, Head of Technical & Operations Department, adds:

“We would like to thank 3E for its great and valuable support, and also its strong commitment and engagement for this key service on our project.”

Qatar’s first utility-scale PV project will be built on 10km² in Al-Kharsaah, 80km west of the capital Doha. It is expected to reach full capacity by 2022, covering about 10% of the electricity peak demand of the country.
